Community Living Sarnia-Lambton operates the Accessible Employment Resource Centre (AERC), a walk-in centre that specializes in assisting unemployed persons with disabilities who are conducting an active job search.
Services Available at the AERC

Free public access to 4 on-line accessible computers for the purpose of internet job searches, resume and cover letter writing, software skills upgrading, or other employment preparation use.

The AERC has a computer program available called Choices, which matches your interests, skills and values to related occupations. It also provides detailed descriptions of each, the education/training required, where the education/training is available, wage rates, and more.

Double-sided photocopier, laser printer, scanner, telephone/TTY, and fax machine for public use.

Information brochures and pamphlets from government departments and the private sector.

Microsoft Office Suite including word processing, spreadsheet, database, learn-to-type software, and Win Way Resume program.

Hands-on computer courses and training workshops offered several times throughout the year.

Free information on resume creation, cover letter writing, interview techniques, and networking.

jobStart is a free workshop for people with disabilities who experience barriers to employment and who are Opportunities Fund eligible. The eight week program is designed to help persons with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and keep employment. In a workshop setting, participants assess their skills and strengths, identify career goals, expand communication skills, network with others, learn to manage anger and conflict, develop interview skills and enhance their job search activities.
Community Voice Mail (CVM)
Lambton Employment Action Committee offers Community Voice Mail, a free service for people without telephones who would like their own personalized voice mail box for messages. CVM provides people in need with a 10-digit phone number and a voice mail number to receive messages from potential employers, health care providers, landlords, case managers etc. Users of Community Voice Mail can retrieve messages from their voice mail boxes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
