CAER brings together municipal response organizations and local industry on emergency preparedness and incident response. All CAER members have the same goals: to maintain the safety and well-being of the people of Sarnia-Lambton. Through collaboration we identify potential risks and develop emergency plans that address all of the possible scenarios.
CAER provides information related to the petrochemical industry; and most particularly, provides assistance in the preparation of emergency plans for the home in case of a toxic vapour release. More than thirty means of communication are utilized, including our speakers' bureau for groups of any size, and the TAKE CAER newsletter. Children and youth ages 4 to 19 receive the TAKE CAER newsletter at school as well as other handouts. Personal Action Guides, which outline preparations families can make to respond to emergencies such as tornadoes, severe winter storms and chemical emergencies, are available
from the CAER office.
