Victim Services of Sarnia-Lambton is a non-profit charitable agency that provides immediate emotional and practical support to victims of crime or tragic circumstance and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Victim Services provides assistance in crisis situations such as property crime, fraud, robbery, harassment, murder, sexual assault, physical assault, missing persons, suicide, personal crisis, domestic violence and tragic circumstances such as sudden death. 

Victim Services relies on trained volunteers who can offer understanding and support to victims and help them cope with a crisis. Confidentiality is required of all volunteers. Services offered include: 

  • individual and family crisis intervention
  • emotional support
  • practical assistance
  • help getting emergency assistance (shelter and food)
  • information about community services
  • referrals for long term assistance
  • crime prevention information
  • Criminal Injury Compensation information
  • follow-up services
  • victim impact statements

SupportLink Program 

SupportLink is a program providing free pre-programmed wireless phones for victims at risk of personal danger because of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking. SupportLink allows a victim quick and easy access to emergency services, thereby providing a greater sense of safety and increased mobility. 

In addition to training on the use of the telephone unit, assistance in the development of a safety plan, regular follow-up contact by the SupportLink Coordinator to address ongoing safety needs, SupportLink provides information and referrals to other community services providers for long term assistance.
