INFORMATION FOR NEWCOMERS TO ONTARIO 

The Settlement.Org website provides newcomers with information and resources to settle in Ontario.
Settlement.Org does this in three ways: 

  • good, accurate, reliable and timely content on the site.
  • links to sites with authoritative information and necessary content - a portal to excellent information on the web.
  • linking newcomers offline to services in their local community. 

Settlement.Org seeks to improve the quality of information and services provided to newcomers and has links to documents in many languages. This website provides an electronic community where newcomers can read announcements, make contacts, discuss current issues, find answers to frequently asked questions and access a directory of organizations in their area. Settlement.Org is open to all and is accessed most frequently by newcomers, settlement workers and the general public.

Settlement.Org was developed by the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) and is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Ontario government. 

OCASI was formed in 1978 to act as a collective voice for immigrant-serving agencies and to coordinate response to shared needs and concerns. OCASI is a registered charity governed by a volunteer board of directors. Its membership is comprised of more than 170 community-based organizations in the province of Ontario.
