Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton provides one-on-one and group mentoring services to children, primarily girls, who need the support, guidance and friendship of a mature and stable adult female. Big Sister services are provided to girls from any familial situation but also to boys living in mother-absent homes. Little Sisters are young girls typically between the ages of 5 and 16, who would greatly benefit from having the support, guidance and positive influence of a Big Sister.

The boys who access our services are called Little Buddies. Big Sisters are caring female adults who are dedicated to helping in the development of young girls. They understand the value of a nurturing friendship and the importance of adult role models in a young girl's life. A Big Sister is a mentor who cares about putting a smile on a special little girl. All prospective Big Sisters are carefully screened to ensure that they are reliable, caring adults and are well suited to the responsibilities of being a Big Sister. They are then appropriately matched with a Little Sister or Little Buddy sharing common interests. The relationship begins here and for a minimum commitment of one year, a valuable friendship and bond may be developed that could last a lifetime. Big Sisters also provides group activities for matched Big Sisters, Little Sisters and Little Buddies and for those children who are waiting for a Big Sister.
