Ability Online is a member-based peer-to-peer support network that connects children and youths with varying abilities and challenges to friends, mentors, tutors and coaches. Registration is free of charge and opens up a world of inspiration and opportunity to children and young people across Canada and beyond. Programs take place online in a monitored, supportive, bully-free environment, where appearance, mobility, speech, race and social class do not matter. Programs include:
Core Program
Members connect to others for friendship, support and inspiration through online messaging games and activities.
"Ask Anything" Homework Guide
Members connect to tutors to help them with homework and can also benefit from downloadable worksheets as well as study tips and tricks. This program is geared towards school-aged kids who can use a little extra one-on-one homework help in the evenings.
Job Readiness
Members connect to HR consultants for job search coaching, resume reviews, live career chats and downloadable self-assessment worksheets and tools. This step-by-step job search process helps our older members (late teens, early twenties) identify what their unique skills, interests and aptitudes are and assists them with potential career choices. Members register in advance for the "live career chat" programs where volunteers from various careers come online, and, using our live chat facility, answer
questions from our members about what it is like to be working in a particular career.
