Genest Detention Centre for Youth is a 20 bed secure detention / custody facility providing services to male and female youth, aged 12-17 years of age, from London and surrounding counties, including Chatham/Kent, Lambton and Essex, who are involved in the justice system serving pre-trial detention or a post trial custody sentence.

Genest Detention Centre's program targets criminogenic risk through its treatment philosophy. Developing therapeutic relationships with youth is the key component to encouraging positive pro-social change. Gender specific programming focuses on the needs of both male and female youth, as well as individual needs. This is done through structured programming including therapeutic groups, counselling and recreational activities. Medical services and school programs are also part of Genest's treatment program. Programming promotes the development of responsible attitudes, values and skills that will improve the youth's ability to succeed when they return to their families and/or community placements.
