The Allergy/Asthma Information Association is a national organization dedicated to helping allergic individuals and their families cope with everything from the sniffles and sneezes of hay fever to life-threatening food allergies and asthma. An estimated one in six Canadians is treated every year for an allergic disorder, including seasonal hay fever, asthma, eczema, hives, and cat, insect, food and drug allergies.
Asthma And Allergy Information
We provide information about all aspects of allergy, including asthma, allergic rhinitis and anaphylaxis in English and in French. Our goal is to help individuals live lives that are as normal as possible - at home, school, work and play. Our focus is on education and prevention. Our strategy is based on Awareness, Avoidance and Action. We strive to be the best possible resource for up-to-date and medically accurate information. We publish quarterly newsletters for our members, we offer a variety of free brochures and we offer information and support by telephone, email and website.
Advocacy Programs
The AAIA seeks to advance the rights of allergy and asthma sufferers in Canada. In the past few years the AAIA has fought for, and won complete ingredient listings on pre-packaged foods and content labelling on fabrics and clothing. We are working with the federal government to achieve labelling of non-medicinal ingredients on all medications and complete ingredient listings on cosmetics.
Product Catalogue
The AAIA provides a variety of products and publications of interest to people who live with allergies, asthma and anaphylaxis. Proceeds from the product catalogue, which may be found online at www.aaia.ca support our mission.
